Campaign Description
Short Synopsis
At the start of the year, the Visian Vintner's Association puts out a call to all known associates and traders that a new blend is to be created. Visian Black is to be their greatest wine yet and the pinnacle of the Cresfaller blends. Prestige and prizes will be shared for all those who bring contracts and samples of the finest wines the isles have to offer.
Today is the 4th Silver Spring, 1172 TSD. You were picked up as crew for The Flight of Fancy, trade-cutter captained by Uberto Aimes, after his previous crew took ill with what he described as "a rot-spawned gut-pox." You've just recently set loose your pilot through the Biri Isles, bound for the Great Grandges, and expect to be putting into port in two days sail.
Player's Guide and Game Notes
As per usual, this is a semi-sandbox. You will have a general task to complete, which is the creation of the Visian Black wine, but y'all are free to pursue whatever else you'd like so long as the party agrees to it. Focus on trade, piracy, exploration, or whatever else pulls your fancy.
The intended fantasy for this campaign is somewhere between One Piece, Master and Commander, and a bunch of middle aged women on a party bus in Fredericksburg for a long weekend. It's not meant to be "gritty" or "hardcore", but it's also not going to be a straight up power fantasy or cake walk.
We'll be using the 2024 rules and starting at level 3. Reference Character Creation for rules and restrictions. Pay special attention to the additional requirements. Most especially: "This is a naval campaign. If you make a character that can't, or won't, contribute to the ship, you're gonna be bored."
Your starting location will be the Great Grandges, where you will take on your first task and loaned a ship. You are expected, and encouraged, to either purchase and upgrade or replace outright the starting ship as it will become outclassed over time.
The intention is that your ship itself will be your "home base," not any one island. Once the party reaches level 5, it can become your bastion as well. The party, or individual characters, can decide against that should they so choose.
